Commemorations

We understand by board an element that serves to commemorate, to celebrate, to homage a fact or important historical situation.

The project - conceived as a series of "modest interventions" - proposes the manufacture and fixation in situ of a series of "commemorative boards" to the great and important urban decisions, plans and constructions of the last 50 years in the area of Brás, but that could be extended to other urban zones of São Paulo city.

They are the economic and political decisions that basically determine - according to possible solutions and alternatives - the current situations of disuse, abandonment, ruin... leading in certain occasions to urban disasters and social precariousness. All this in relation to an urban development characteristic of a city - São Paulo - where the industrial production, with the economic development, "the car culture"... foments an urban aggressiveness, a order/disorder, "interested necessities"... and turn the spaces into zones of "non-space"- viaducts, postindustrial relocations, reordering... -, into negative monuments (counter monuments) of the contemporary wild capitalism era.
