Arriving in São Paulo
The nearest major International Airport is Guarulhos (GRU), located some 20 km (15 mi) away from the congress site. You can either take a bus from the airport or a taxi. Although buses are cheaper, they will not drop you off near the university area or at most of the hotels nearby. To take a taxi, look for the Taxi Counter (Guarucoop) as you leave the international departures gate, on the ground floor. Have the address of your hotel handy and show it at the taxi counter. You will pay the fare beforehand. They accept all major credit cards. Currently the fare from Guarulhos Airport to Perdizes (the neighborhood where the congress will be held) is R$ 71.83 (about US$ 30.00). If you need to exchange currency, we recommend you do so while at the airport. Most banks near the university do not offer this service. The foreign exchange with the best rates is normally Action, located on the ground floor.

Safety
São Paulo is a huge megalopolis, with over 15 million inhabitants. Like all big cities, some of its neighborhoods can be dangerous. Perdizes, where the congress will be held, is largely a safe area. Read more about safety in São Paulo.
