The 1990´s began with the arrival of Internet in Brazil, an inforoad created to transfer information. The trasmission of information in the Internet can be done by FTP ( File Transference Protocol), e-mail ( eletronic mails) and webs (Graphic Interface). Graphic Interface is a composition of verbal, visual and sound signs acting in a metalinguistic communication process. This kind of composition is made of hyperlinks ( links between information at someone´s entry) which can be visual, sound or verbal, linking various representation forms. The representation means made possible by the web, creates the possibility of information transfer via Internet and affords an unimaginable knowledge flow. This is the basic idea present in this investigation proposal. To examine our idea, we understand that the understanding of the language made by webdesigners is essential.

Our proposal is to study the design of web pages, considering this design a fundamental part in the process of knowledge formation in the contemporary culture. Undestanding the design as a written message with visual and printed elements, movement sound, we would like to study the web design´s contribuition to the formation of meaning specifically in web pages ( Internet´s graphic interface).
