Projeto: Imagens Animadas. Análise Semiótica.
Tenho procurado identificar diferentes formas de Representações Visuais há algum tempo. Faço uma abordagem semiótica da Linguagem Visual através das novas tecnologias aplicadas as representações visuais, baseada na Teoria Peirceana (de Charles Sanders Peirce). Este estudo não é apenas teórico, há uma parte experimental que elabora imagens no computador. O objetivo de meu trabalho é examinar Sistemas de Signos que se desenvolvem na seqüencialidade do tempo. Realmente, tudo que tem uma forma (ou um estado formal) no mundo tem algum tipo de relacionamento espaço-tempo e esta é sua qualidade de estar materializado. Mas, existem outras qualidades destas formas que podem ser apontadas, como a sua dinâmica enquanto Signo. E este é um ponto importante, nós não estamos falando de Objetos, mas Signos que tem uma forma no mundo! A premissa de meus trabalhos é que a lógica de programação pode atuar poeticamente nas imagens. Desta forma nós estaremos adicionando novos componentes a Linguagem que são exclusivamente da ciência da computação: a lógica da programação - isto, em si, já é um importante diferencial -, como também a participação efetiva do observador.
Project: Animated images. A semiotic analysis.
I have been looking for the identification of different forms of Visual Representation for a long time. My work is a semiotic approach to Visual Language through new technologies applied to Visual Representations. My research is on theoretical questions related to Images based on Peircean semiotics. THe work is not only theoretical, there is an experimental part with images created by the computer. The aim of my work is to examine Sign Systems that develop in the succession of time. Actually, everything that has a form (or a formal state) in the world presents some kind of space-time relationship and this is its quality of being materialized in the world. But there are other qualities in these forms which can be distinguished, as the dynamics of the Signs. And that is an important point. We are not talking about Objects but Signs that have a form in the world! The premise of my work is that logic programming can act poetically on images. Hence we add new contents to signs which are exclusive of computer science: the computer programming logic. This, in itself, is already an important differential as well as the effective participation of the observer.
Silvia Laurentiz é Designer Gráfica e Multimídia, Doutora pelo Programa de Estudos Pós-graduados em Comunicação e Semiótica da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP), Mestre em Multimídia pelo Departamento de Multimeios da Faculdade de Artes da Universidade de Campinas (UNICAMP). Vem pesquisando uma abordagem semiótica para a Linguagem Visual através das novas tecnologias. Seu foco de interesse são "imagens animadas", termo que utiliza para imagens que causam um efeito de variação espaço-temporais.
Silvia Laurentiz is a Multimedia and Graphic Designer and Ph.D. in Communication and Semiotic at the Catholic University of São Paulo. She has a Fine Art Master degree at the Art Institute — Multimedia Department, of the University of Campinas - UNICAMP. She has been studying the semiotic approach to Visual Language through new technologies. Her major point of interest is in animated image.
