Presentation

The School of Post-graduate Studies in Education: Education Psychology (PED) implemented its master’s Program in 1969, and its Doctorate Program in 1982. It was the first post-graduate program in Psychology of Education in Brazil, and one of the first in Education, making a fundamental contribution for the postgraduation programs at PUC-SP, along with the Literary Theory, and the Applied Linguistics and Language Studies programs. The program is accredited by CAPES (Grade 05).

For over 50 years, the program has been responsible for the theoretical and scientific training of a considerable number of professionals, especially in Education. The accumulated production throughout these years is expressive: circa 984 master’s dissertations and 469 doctoral theses have been concluded and defended (as of April 2021), many of which were published.

Objectives

The program aims primarily at providing conditions for:

  1. Higher Education teacher training, through the contributions of Psychology of Education.

  2. Training researchers in Psychology of Education.

Lines of Research

The lines of research of the program focus on Psychology of Education by fostering research in the field, and by training students to become researchers. They form the basis of the program’s curriculum and research projects:

  1. Psychosocial processes in educators' training and professional practices, which studies the constitution of educators’ subjectivity related to their knowledge and professional practices.

  2. Development, teaching, and learning, which focuses on human development and its relationship with teaching and learning processes in the community, the family, and school contexts.

Post-doctorate degree

The Post-Doctorate Program of PUC-SP consists of academic internship aimed at research activity, performed by people who own a Doctoral Degree obtained in stricto sensu post-graduate program from Higher Education institutes.

Research groups accredited by CNPq

Every Professor in the Program belongs to one or more research groups registered at the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development – CNPq.

Publications

50 years of Productions in Psychology of Education: Research Reports (Volumes 1 – 5)

The texts comprising this collection show how broad and up to date scientific production is within PED, at PUC-SP. In each of the five volumes, macro and micro situations are investigated, concerning intentional – and, therefore, educational – actions that take place not exclusively, but mainly, at school.

Candidates interested must be attentive to information periodically disclosed by the course. Fellow students are submitted to productivity evaluation, through which they may keep their scholarships.
