LLS Research
The research developed at LLS is directed towards an interdisciplinary
approach. Besides music composition, the laboratory carries projects in
the following areas: psychoacoustic investigation, time and tempo, vocal
poetry, oral culture, and radio discourse. At this moment, the following
projects are being developed at LLS:
- Electronic and Digital Composition - creation of music composition based
on the exploration of new electronic and digital media and development of
interactive music systems.
- Vocal Poetry - study of the relations among phonetics, poetry, and singing,
as well as the use of new technologies to investigate the possibilities
of using the vocal organs to produce both verbal and non-verbal discourse.
- Oral Poetry - collects and analyzes traditional types of folk songs
and promotes experimental readings of contemporary texts related to oral
forms of culture transmission.
- Multimedia - promotes the interconnection between sound, verbal, and
visual languages to produce creative work on media, such as CD-ROM and video.
- Music and Poetry - works on the interconnection and creative re-interpretation
between music and poetry.
- Radio Discourse - focuses on the study of expressive reading of different
texts and the exploration of the voice as an expressive medium.
