ABSTRACT: In this paper, fifty texts of the genre ‘televised political campaign discourse’ are examined. It is observed how the candidates construct their world experiences as they make linguistics choices in the transitivity system and how their message is revealed in the texts. The main theoretical support is the Systemic-Functional Grammar proposed by Halliday (2004). Of the six types of processes introduced by the author, the paper focuses on the material process because it is the most frequent in the corpus. The analysis shows that the speakers make use mainly of the material process because they want to refer to their accomplishments and to their projects as politicians.
